Nagel Middle School math students help solve parking problem at Anderson hospital

Nagel Middle School math students help solve parking problem at Anderson hospital

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital is about to face a parking problem.

“As the hospital prepares for a significant expansion project, we need to provide parking for 1,200 employees, 150 physicians, 500 patients and 200 construction workers, even as we lose 150 parking spots for construction of a new tower,” said Vice President of Medical Affairs Stephen Feagins, MD.

Feagins decided that when it comes to parking problems, he wasn’t smarter than an eighth-grader. He turned to his partners in the Forest Hills School District for help with this real world issue, securing the services of Nagel Middle School’s eighth grade math whizzes to come up with a creative solution to the parking conundrum.

On Friday, January 25, 32 Nagel math students took on the role of civil engineer. They met for the first time with Construction Project Director Kevin O’Brien of Danis, the construction company building the tower at the hospital.
