Gateway April 30 Expo Connects Parents with Employers

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) — Students and parents attending the Advanced Manufacturing Expo at Gateway Community and Technical College April 30 can learn firsthand from local manufacturers about the bright job outlook for manufacturing careers.

Six local employers are scheduled to attend the education expo at Gateway’s Boone Campus in Florence April 30. They include DHL, Mubea, Mazak, Ellison Group, the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics, and Virtual Manufacturing Services.

The expo is open to the public and begins at 5 p.m. Participants can tour Gateway’s high-tech Integrated Manufacturing Center, Computerized Manufacturing and Machining Lab, and Welding Lab between 5 and 6 p.m., and meet with local employers between 6 and 7 p.m. Gateway will conduct an information session on college credit that can be earned in high school from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Apprenticeship information will be shared from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Mt Washington duo facing drug, endangerment charges

MOUNT WASHINGTON, OH (FOX19) -Two Mt. Washington people are jailed on several charges following a drug investigation.

Police say 33-year-old Gregory Marsh was selling drugs out of a Salvador Street apartment and 25-year-old Jasmine Wooten allowed the crime to happen.

Both are facing child endangerment charges as the drug deals happened in front of a five-year-old and three-month-old child.

 Both are expected to appear in court Friday morning in Hamilton County.

Public Library’s first Comic Con is May 5

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Comic book fans assemble! It’s time for the first Comic Con event Sunday, May 5, from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. in the atrium at the Main Library. 

The Library is joining forces with Arcadian Comics & Games and the Friends of the Public Library to present an afternoon filled with a comic book swap, booths, a comic book exhibit, a panel discussion with writers and illustrators, the Comic Con Drawing Contest award ceremony, the opportunity to take pictures with your favorite characters (Stormtroopers, Mandalorian Mercs, X-Men characters and more), and free comic books in celebration of Free Comic Book Day.

Pedestrian hit in Anderson Twp

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)- Emergency crews responded to the scene of a pedestrian hit Thursday evening in Anderson Township.

It happened at the intersection of SR 125 and King Louis Court just after 5:30 p.m.

Police say a Ford F-250 operated by Brian Burger, 39, of Anderson Township, was attempting to make a right turn onto westbound SR 125 from Pinnacle Plaza. The front portion of the truck hit Guy Wentzel, 53, of Anderson Township, who was walking eastbound across the business driveway.

Wentzel was knocked to the ground and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center via Air Care. He is in critical condition.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)  - Author Heather Shumaker will be at the Blue Ash Branch Library at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29.  She will talk about her book, “It’s OK Not To Share and Other Renegade Rules for Raising Competent and Compassionate Kids."

Penn Station's fresh-cut fries are a customer favorite, freshly hand-cut from unpeeled Idaho potatoes, which are then cooked to order in cholesterol-free peanut oil.      

Originally founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985, Penn Station is an upscale, fast-casual restaurant renowned for its legendary Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sub sandwich, served hot and made-to-order on freshly baked French bread. Penn Station serves a variety of hot and cold subs, as well as fresh, hand-cut, made-to-order French fries, hand-squeezed lemonade made several times daily and chocolate chunk cookies baked fresh in the restaurant.

Firefighter suffers minor injury battling Anderson Twp. blaze

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)- A firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling a blaze early Sunday morning.

It happened around 4 a.m. in the 1400 block of Verdale Drive.

Arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the basement of a home. The roof was ventilated to provide heat and smoke removal and
fire personnel entered the structure and proceeded to the basement to locate the fire and extinguish it.

Everyone made it out safely, but a family cat died in the fire. A firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor injury and returned to duty.

The cause remains under investigation.
